Call for 2020 Programs

Summary

Shafer Leadership Academy (SLA) seeks presenters for 2020 programming.

Program options include:

  • Half day program (3.5 hours, 8:30 am to 12 pm)
  • Lunch and Learn (90 min, 11:30 to 1 pm)
  • Coffee Talk (90 min, 8 am to 9:30 am).

Presenters will work with SLA’s Program Director for all program logistics.  The presenters should be comfortable with their topic and have experience in leadership.

Who Should Submit a Proposal?

Any resident of East Central Indiana who has a topic related to leadership that they want to share with the community.  You don’t need a specific credential or job title, just a demonstrable knowledge of your topic and the ability to facilitate for an audience.

What Topic Should I Submit?

The more specific the topic, the better. Think of a workplace, or leadership, problem you solved (or have the tools to solve), and create a lunch-n-learn that explores how you overcame the problem (in a format that inspires others to do the same).

Popular topics from 2019 include: radical honesty, getting outside your comfort zone, mindfulness, professional communication and many more.

You are welcomed to submit multiple proposals and topics. We seek proposals that:

  • Provide leadership skills that help people think differently in terms of their leadership and for leading others
  • Create a learning environment where participants can ask questions to enhance learning
  • Identify key objectives for the program

Most importantly, we are seeking presenters who are interactive with the participants and create an experiential learning environment that enables participants to have a different conversation today, tonight or tomorrow.

What Can I Expect?

All programs will be held at The Innovation Connector (1208 W White River Blvd). You will have access to a laptop, projector, white board, and configurable room. We manage the recruitment, check-in process, and can print your materials.

Expect an audience of 15 – 50 participants per session.

Proposal Process and How to Submit

Applicants must complete the form below by 5:00 pm on Friday, October 11th.

Proposals will be reviewed finalist selected by the end of October.  Applicants may be asked to participate in a brief interview process with the Program Director and members of the Board of Directors Programming Team.

Questions can be directed to Tisha Gierhart, Program Director for the Shafer Leadership Academy.

Shafer Leadership Academy is a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
