Goal:
To meet program participants and explore the challenges of 21st Century Leadership
Objectives:
- To meet and get acquainted with fellow program participants
- To introduce, discuss, and experience learning styles
- To gain an understanding of one’s own personal learning style
- To understand the role of learning styles in the team building process
Session II:
Leadership Styles
Goal:
To understand leadership styles with an emphasis on servant leadership principles
Objectives:
- To present an overview of leadership styles and help each participant determine their style
- To understand the power and importance of a collective vision
- To introduce the philosophy and practice of servant leadership
- To discuss and create opportunities for implementing servant leadership skills
Session III:
Building and Leading Effective Teams
Goal:
To gain an understanding of managing conflict and building consensus
Objectives:
- Learn how to empower others through communication and capacity building
- Learn how to move a group from chaos to performance
- Discover techniques to improve overall communication skills
- Learn simple approaches to breaking through communication barriers
Session IV:
How to Manage Conflict and Seek Consensus
Goal:
To improve understanding of effective interpersonal communication
Objectives:
- To understand the causes of interpersonal conflict
- To identify conflict management techniques and their associated positives & drawbacks
- To understand the meaning of consensus and how it is achieved
Session V:
Community Leadership
Goal:
To identify and define attributes for effective community engagement
Objectives:
- To define the concept of community and your role as a leader
- To discuss modern challenges of community engagement and how it has evolved from years past
- To explore the relationship between personal purpose and community engagement
Session VI:
Personal Mission
Goal:
To discover your true motivations and passions
Objectives:
- To examine and evaluate individual passions and priorities
- To develop personal mission and vision statements
Session VII:
Personal Action Plans
Goal:
To build a plan of action for using your unique skills and abilities as a leader
Objectives:
- To develop a personal action plan for further personal development and community engagement
- To identify and discuss the role of board participation and leadership
Session VIII:
You Are a Leader
Goal:
To understand the importance of skills learned, how to apply them as a 21st Century leader, and to celebrate your next season as a leader.
Objectives:
- To discuss your most valuable take-aways from participating in the Emergence program
- To identify the spheres of influence where you can apply your leadership abilities
- To provide information for connecting to community service opportunities
